Short Biography: Esther Williams' was teenage swimming champion discovered by MGM talent scout while working in a Los Angeles department store. Here first film was in a 1942 a Andy Hardy picture called “Andy Hardy's Double Life” with Mickey Rooney. MGM her in a new movie genre known as "Aqua Musicals" which were actually quite dangerous to make and eventually led to her injury and almost resulted in her death. During the war years she visited the hospitals and entertained injured soldiers to do her part for the war effort. Esther Williams retired from film making in the sixties and found other mostly swimming and water related ways to make her living.
